The picture was taken by a friend of mine just outside of San Quirico d'Orcia, Tuscany, Italy, end of July 2002.
The place is very close to Castello Ripa d'Orcia a lovely medieval fortress were we stayed. In the background you can see the tower of Rocca a Tentennano.
